DIFFERENT WAYS TO
UPCYCLE
Upcycling is a fantastic way to get creative with your old clothing and turn old garments into exciting new creations, not to mention it’s also an affordable way to reduce your fashion consumption. If you’ve got some spare time and an item you no longer want to wear, this one's for you.

CHANGE THE FIT

We all have at least one item which just doesn’t fit quite right, so it stays unworn in our wardrobe until we eventually decide to get rid of it. Let’s change this cycle by changing how the item fits. You could simply make small adjustments to it to make it suite you more, or you could turn it into a new garment completely. Pinterest is full of great ideas for this, so have a look there if you’re lacking inspiration.

CHANGE THE PATTERN

If you have an item of clothing which fits you well but you’re just a bit bored of it might be time to switch it up a bit. If the colour is what you want to change, dye or paint your item, and you can add detailing with embroidery too. Use ribbon, buttons, beads or even patches from other unwanted clothing to really make it your own.

REPAIR IT

Got a hole in your jeans, a tear in your dress or a stain on your T-shirt? Don’t throw them away - instead cover rips and stains with patterned patches or embroidery for a fresh new look.

TURN IT INTO SOMETHING NEW

There’s no rule saying that your old clothing has to stay as clothing, upcycling can mean turning it into something completely different too. You can be as creative or uncreative as you like here - from using old T-shirts for cleaning rags to stitching patterned shirts into cushion covers – there’s really no limit to what you can do. If you have young kids who like arts and crafts then get them involved too!

Enjoy!
